Go With the Flow!- by Junior Damonta Morgan Though it sounds cliche to say, it has truly been a life changing experience to attend the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. When I first applied to MSMS, I was expecting an atmosphere that was conductive to learning and where I would be surrounded by people with similar interests as me. If there is one thing that MSMS has taught me since I have been here, is that everyone has a different way of approaching and solving problems; it is what makes everyone so unique. I initially applied to MSMS because I wanted a way out from the community I was in. I found it very difficult trying to learn in an environment where the people that I was surrounded by did not care about receiving knowledge. Coming to MSMS from the Delta, I was looking for a change. I was tired of being in an environment in which I was talked about for being smart. I was tired of walking down the streets with my head hung low because I wanted something better for myself. I was tired of education being secondary and not a main focus. I felt MSMS had to be a place where this would change. At MSMS, I finally found a place where fitting in is not dictated by how low your pants hang or pretending to be dumb. Fitting in can finally be good! In fact, maybe I should not refer to it as "fitting in." At MSMS, I can "go with the flow!"
